The Hyattsville Elementary School PTA is starting up a 5K race to be held in Hyattsville next fall. This community wide event will showcase our great city and provide a fun, local, family friendly event for our neighborhood. Proceeds will go to the HES PTA to support the students and teachers at HES.
All are invited to attend a kick off meeting on Wednesday, November 18, at 7:00 pm at HES. We will discuss the current status of race planning, what is coming up next, and volunteer positions.
To make this a success, we need volunteers! You do not need to be a runner or an HES family to be a part of this event! There are many different kinds of work to do, with varying commitments of time needed. We will be asking for help with:
–marketing and public relations
–race course management
–race day coordination
If you are interested in the race, but can’t attend the meeting, contact PTA Secretary Christine Blackerby at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive future email updates.
Mark your calendars for two upcoming PTA meetings!
The next general PTA meeting is on Tuesday, November 10, at 7:00 in the school library. At this meeting the PTA will vote on a change to the approved PTA budget for this school year to provide funding assistance for school field trips. The agenda for the meeting is here.
November 18th will be the first planning meeting for a new PTA 5K race to be held in Hyattsville. The PTA will need lots of volunteers to make this successful, so please plan to attend to find out how you can help support HES and create a great event in Hyattsville. More details and an agenda are forthcoming.
