HES Principal Julia BurtonĀ is leaving HES to take a position as principal that is closer to her home in Virginia. Acting Principal Teresa Bey has been appointed as the new leader for HES.
All parents are invited to a meet and greet with Principal Bey at HES on August 11, 6:30-7:30. Bring your students to say hello! The PTA will be providing light refreshments.
Ms. Burton had these words to share with HES parents:
It has been a privilege to be your children’s principal for the last four years. HES is a wonderful school and I have been very proud to be associated with PGCPS, HES students, families, staff and the Hyattsville community. It is a special, special place.
I have accepted a position as a principal that is very close to my home. The decision to leave HES was extremely difficult.
I am confident that the new leader for HES, Teresa Bey, also has a great passion for learning. The transition will be an easy one for you. Promise.
I am simply delighted for HES and for Mrs. Bey. It is a truly perfect match. When I think about the leadership profile that you created during the search time between Mrs. Washburn and my appointment, I see that Mrs. Bey has the very characteristics that you outlined more than four years ago.
I will always treasure HES. I hope to see you at the Zombie Run!
